This is neither about google nor Bing but about irony so I guess foo gets it.
I was somewhere, don't remember where, and saw an image among a bunch of images of a Time Magazine cover story. It was very small and low resolution but I could make it out enough to see 2 words in HUGH letters..."Google (followed by smaller text) Death (followed by smaller text)". Needless to say it caught my attention so I decided to try to track down the story. I went to Bing and used the search term "google site:time.com".
Results came up and in spot #1 was an ad by google:
Google - Make Google your Homepage. It's Quick and Easy. Google.com Switch Today!
Google is bold enough to do it and is Bing desperate enough to run it? Or can they not refuse?
I'm still trying to find the article if it's not behind some paywall.

I think this is the cover and article you were thinking of.
