My question, now what? I do SEO for a company, but I would like to put my knowledge to use making money for myself.
What can one do with SEO and web building knowledge to make money on the net? Not looking to get rich, but it would just be nice to be able to make a few bucks here and there...:)

There are many ways to put those skills you have learned to work for yourself.
You can work for other people helping them to create there sites, you can also create sites yourself targeting affiliate programs, network marketing or what ever.
Personally I have choosen the route of affiliate programs and love it. I choose who, what and which programs/products I market. I do not go the route of pay per click .... for me it does not make sense. With pay per click you always need to be watching your converstions, and your spending.
By simple getting sites into the popular search engines (read google) you can simply try to improve on your conversions and placements within the serp's.
While many people will tell you that it is very competative there are sectors of affiliate marketing that are not nearly so competative.
Understand that it takes a good deal of time and energy to build up but once the ball gets rolling it is very exciting ;-)

If ya get the content to do well in Google, sometimes you can load Zeal/MSN up as well. It does help if Zealots do your reviews and not the LS editors cause they are more picky.
