I remember my first trip to the Pier when 'I were a lad'. I had a 99 flake and felt Ill after riding the helter skelter too many times.

A beautiful piece of british heritage lost - a real shame :(

You're probably thinking of the other pier. Palace pier's the main amusment pier, that caught fire a couple of months back but is ok now!

the west pier trust people must be absolutely gutted. they've had funding allocated for restoration for several years but legal problems got in the way. despite the partial collapse in december and the loss of one building, the trust were determined to continue with restoration. they got planning permission only last month and now they've lost the other building. news reports suggest they're determined to continue the restoration ... of nothing ...
