Just read an article about a car maker reducing the price of many of their cars with the hopes of appearing in search better.

Nissan is cutting prices on seven of its 18 models in the U.S., hoping its cars and trucks will show up in more Internet searches by shoppers.

Note that, after reading the article, this is probably referring to specific searches of cars to buy, not organic search engines.

I can image they're trying to move down a price bracket, so instead of being at (for example) the lower end of the £15-20k bracket, they actually appear at the higher end of the £10-15k bracket. Makes sense if some of their models were borderline.

I would agree with that, they are likely trying to be more visible in some sort of a comparison type of site or sites.

Or, and I just found this so it might not be new but it is to me, google/cars
