So I've got a small site hosted with a company that I used to use years ago.
All was ticking over nicely, until this weekend when I found out that the site had gone offline. So, I investigated and managed to log into the site's control panel. Everything looked fine, until I tried to do anything, and got a 'your account has been suspended' error.
Ok, so I thought I'd missed an invoice somewhere. But I haven't had any requests for payment, so I sent the host a message.
Just got a reply saying that my host (who I thought I was contacting) was actually only a reseller, and haven't been paying their bills, so they've been cut off.
I'm not that bothered about maintaining this host at all, it was more of a play area than anything else.
But, I'm wondering if I'm barking up the wrong tree if I try to get the parent host to let me get one last copy of everything I'd uploaded.
I can imagine my contract was only with the reseller host, and the parent host has no legal reason to help me - but has anyone done anything like this before?
It's just in case there's anything up there that I don't have a local copy of.
Any advice would be appreciated!
