A great movie director, and a real character. I'll miss his acerbic wit.

Film director and newspaper columnist Michael Winner has died, aged 77, his wife Geraldine has confirmed.

Born in Hampstead, London in 1935, he directed more than 30 films, including Death Wish and Scorpio.

I liked the subtitle of his last book (a collection of Jewish Jokes)
"50 Shades of Oy Vey"

A real shame, as I read the Sunday Times every , um, Sunday, he will be much missed by us here for his restaurant reviews, wit, and those Jewish jokes at the end of his column ( mostly sent in by readers !). RIP
