Dual monitor taskbar issue

Is it possible to duplicate the taskbar on both screen?

I just configured my system to use 2 monitor, I love it, but after a few minutes I noticed that the taskbar is on only one of the monitor.

So my question is there a way to duplicate the taskbar on both screen? I'm on winXP and pretty new to all this but love the new space!

a dual screen is not another "screen" its just an extension of you main screen - a super desktop.

you can either have taskbar in one or the other but not both.

Depends on your graphics card. Some cards (like Matrox for e.g.) come with software that allows you to customise the look and feel of the dual displays. Stretching the taskbar across both screens for example. I'm not sure about duplicating it tho' as I've never tried to do that.

I have a Matrox card and while there are quite a few things you can do - duplicating the start menu is not one of them.

If you are using a nVidia card in nView you can either set it up to stretch the taskbar all the way across both screens or you can have it so it only goes across one. I like it to go across one monitor because this makes it so you can maximize windows on each monitor instead of clicking maximize and it stretches across the 2 monitors. This way I can have photoshop maximized on one monitor and my HTML editor maximized on the other.

thanks for the reply guys.

i found a really neat little app while searching for info on this. It imlpements a taskbar for the second monitor and shows only the app running on a particular monitor on that specific monitor task bar. pretty cool and it's free.

I use UltraMon [realtimesoft.com] -- absolutely love it.
