We are far too often surrounded by tragedy, fear, as well as doubt. I was just sitting here in quiet contemplation about the days to come and the silliness of the Mayan December 21 thingy floated by me. So, I was just thinking maybe I could whip up a light-hearted foo post to shake us out of some of our collective FUD because we all need a good laugh once in a while to lift our spirits.

What's you take on the alleged upcoming date? Are you apprehensive, confident, or just simply indifferent?

Myself personally I'm totally indifferent. The way I see it is how could the Mayans have predicted the end of time in 2012 when in fact they couldn't even foresee their own demise? I see the whole scenario as it has been unfolding as simply a bunch opportunists capitalizing on people's fear so they can sell them books. If anything take the root word Maya and understand that it is the illusion of separation so maybe it'll be the end of the sense of separation from the unity of One.

Yet, we can never be 100% sure! So, just in case, I've made my travel arrangements. I did not consult with Google, I don't want to visit any lair they suggest. Also, heaven doesn't want me and hell is afraid I'll take over so I'm going with plan C -- I'll continue running as a cosmic fugitive -- wanted for hacking the gates of heaven and posting the passphrase on the Internet. Bah, dunno where I'll land, probably on the fringe of creation where a newly created world needs to be populated. Maybe I can ride into town as the new sheriff sitting on top of a white horse named Gangnam Style, hehehe. Giddyup.

I hope the mods will allow us to have some fun and stress relief with this post. So on December 21 I'll be partying like a Mayan! Well actually no, I'll just be sitting quietly going about my daily routine and enjoying a strong black cuppa java.

The Maya never predicted the end of the world. The end of the 13th Baktun signals the start of the 14th Baktun, a renewal or new cycle in the calendar.

You can fault the various tourists boards for fomenting the end of the world myth overseas to lure in preppers and doomsday fans and the curious.

And the Maya never disappeared - they are very much alive and well today - but sadly mostly landless and a suppressed people even where they are the major population group.

So you're saying it's Friday the 13th too?

Oh no!
