Whether or not they could contest the 'mispricing' is another matter & one that somebody a bit more legal-savvy might be able to answer...

<update>According to big sis' who works for Trading Standards, Amazon don't actually have to sell at the displayed price and can apparently withdraw the offer, even after people have ordered. Whether or not they do is a different matter, but it's gotta be worth pushing to see if they will supply the items as a gesture of goodwill or similar...:)</update>
<another update>Amazon's UK site has been taken offline as at 12:26</another update>
Fortunately, the normal server let me straight through & I've got confirmation of the order.:)
I remember something similar with another online company (can't remember who) which had underpriced some pretty expensive digital cameras and did honour the orders placed at the incorrect price...fingers crossed...

I found one that said (in shopper.com) $325 - they were going for like $350/$375 at the time. When I got there - I noticed it was a one day sale - but I was there a day late. It said $75.00.
I thought "hmmmm". I ordered one to see what would happen. I read the terms and conditions and it clearly said they weren't responsible for typos.
I ordered one anyway. I didn't here anything for a week - and there were no charges on my card - so I figured the just cancelled it.
The sent an email that was titled something like "Palm V pricing error"
I thought - oh well, and read the email. It said all this stuff how they didn't need to honor it, but at the very bottom - they said they would honor that price for ONE palm V from everyone that ordered one.
It made my day :)
