First impression: SEDO Parked pages, all of it, entire site, colors(grrr).. etc.
Second Impression: Looks like someone deployed mobile version of the site in WWW root by mistake.
Third Impression: They used EXTRA large fonts cause the amount of on page content/text is almost zilch.

and for the sake of privacy: why does every body have to use "google-analytics" to ......?

Agree with blend27..very SEDO..
btw ..it says it uses cookies..but it didn't give me the option to accept them or not..( as all other UK sites do )..so presumably it is "do as we say, not as we do"..or that under UKI law it is actually legal to just say "this site uses cookies" and merely give a link to a page about their use of cookies..

We do not allow Google to use or share our analytics data.

I don't think they understand how G analytics cookies work..;) ..G uses the cookies how G sees fit..Websites that use Ganalytics get no say in what G does with the cookies, cannot truly read the cookies, and only has G's word about anything it does with them..

I approve of the govt's move towards merging their websites. There used to be tons of little-used domains, so this is better. But it's also fugly. I have no issues with big fonts and a simple layout, but couldn't they stretch to a decent background image at least?

Click on the Built by the Government Digital Service and then look at the footer credits - they even tell you which Wordpress theme was used.

Mind you it's a lot better than the Spanish equivalent www.senado.es

I wonder how much they spent on it. They managed to spend tens of millions a year on the fairly simple Business Link website.

Well considering that it has HTML5 with in the code and it seems like it is made for Mobile, prbly not less than that. It even has a "custom Font for UK Gov only" referenced in the code.

O boy ya got to love it built in the USA like there arn't any WP developers there. This is one thing I just have never figured out. The USA buys our flags from china and UK has their website built in the US. Friggin all govt's are copmletely and utterly clueless.

I don't think they had "their website" built in the USA but I am very surprised that the UK government found it necessary to use a $68 template as the platform.

BeeDee yes they did fact is url in the footer Built By Govt Digital Services [digital.cabinetoffice.gov.uk...] Go toi this site and then look in the footer there is a link back to the US company that is building the sites for the new UK look.

I also thought of the hack on a WP website myself.

The old sites seemed such a mess and fragmented. I guess it's an improvement from that respect.

I just don't like to think of the possibilities for it being hacked.
