I've decided on a weeks holiday at the beginning of May - and Jeez, Man, I can't wait. My top priority is hot sunshine and relaxation but I don't want to travel too far (from UK) - so the carribean is not an option.

Can anyone recommend a quality destination which is hot in May with good hotels and beaches, not too crowded, and not long haul.

The Greek Islands were really nice when I was there in May a few years back - just starting to get warm/hot ;) Have a great holiday!

hot enought to lie in the sun and swim in the sea?

Early May is an awkward time to go away for a beach holiday - its still not quite hot enough in europe and its the start of the rainy season in the caribbean. must be somewhere for me...

I live on the Costa del Sol and its nice and warm here already, so may should be hot! :)

It's only 3 hours or so flight from the UK.

How about some summer skiing? Try Tignes or one of the Austrian glaciers. :)

Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt!
Sun, beaches, not crowded, excellent hotels, more sun, cheap, great food, fab scuba diving, fantastic snorkelling, as much belly dancing as you want, exciting desert exploration. Oh, and the sun shines ALL the time. What else could you possibly need? Air temp: 32 C, water: 25-27 C.

some serious food for thought - thanks.

sounds great - but possibly a bit risky in the current climate?

is that in May?

Is it safe for women in that area?

Why risky? Oh yes, the war... Well, the only risk is cancelled flights but none of us living here feel that there is any danger to our lives. And we know quite a few people who are going to book a holiday to the Red Sea a soon as (if...) the war starts because they will have some of the world's best dive sites all to themselves and the beaches will be empty!

Yes, it is safe for women here. No more unsafe than anywhere else really. Sharm isn't exactly Egypt either, it's sort of a wonder land for tourists just like the other Red Sea destinations.

Yes, the temperatures are in May! Great huh?! :)
