I have just heard on the radio that Barry Sheen passed away this morning after having a Heart Attack.

One of my childhood Hero's, I remember having a number 7 on the front of my bike as a kid.

Sad news :(

A real motorbike hero (at least if you're British). He was winning races with his legs all full of metal pins. I always remember seeing an x-ray of his legs in the newspaper. Must've been when i was about 7 or 8 years old. More metal than leg, but he was a tough cookie.

Bless you Barry.

Barry lived on the Gold Coast, just an hour away from I'm typing this.

Actually, he died from throat and stomach cancers which he had acknowledged about 9 months ago. He said at the time that he planned to fight it with natual remedies. He had been hospitalised for some time.

He was very popular here, not just in the petrol head fraternity but in the mainstream public as well. He did a few TV ads in recent years and commentaries on all the major bike races.
