Dell on Tuesday announced plans to acquire network and data security firm SonicWall for an undisclosed price.
The transaction was approved by the board of directors at each company and is expected to close in the second quarter of Dell's fiscal year 2013. Dell said the acquisition will bolster its existing security portfolio, which includes Dell SecureWorks security services and Dell KACE vulnerability management, and allow it to offer business customers a larger range of security offerings.
"Dell looks forward to welcoming SonicWALL's approximately 950 employees to the Dell team, and plans continued investments to grow this business," Texas-based Dell said in a news release.
