I'll eat about any seasonal fruit. Can't wait for my favorite - south Georgia watermelons. In the meantime I'll settle for my favorite standby - good old ripe bananas.

BTW have you ever tried to deep fry a mars bar? It is virtually impossible, I gave up after three attempts.

Do it with a Snickers... much better results ;)

Honestly though if you want to get the most bang for your buck you should be buying organic.

I saw a chart showing mineral content for organic vs conventional. The research was done by Firman E Bear at Rutgers U, and was in the Nation Gardeners Catalog.

It shows conventional grown items lacking in most minerals.

Example:

Snap Peas minerals in microequivalents

Calcium
Org:40.5
Con:15.5

Magnesium:
Org:60
Con:14.8

Potasium
Org:99.7
Con:29.1

Sodium
Org:8.6
Con:0

Manganese:
Org:60
Con:2

Iron:
Org:227
Con:10

Copper:
Org:69
Con:3

Pretty disparaging results. I think it is worth the extra couple rubles.

We don't have Scotts in the UK either (unless you are talking porage oats).

Really? Everyone with the surname Scott has emigrated? Who knew.

porage eh...

On a related note, 15 people in the US burned their houses down while attempting to deep fry their Thanksgiving Turkey in November of 2010, according to Allstate insurance company.

Apparently, they don't keep records on how many hoses were burned down when trying to deep fry Twinkies.

Last time I went to the grocery outlet store, they were selling...

:: drumroll ::

...deep-fryers for turkeys.

I keep telling them the Fry Baby isn't big enough, but do they listen?
