A Texas inmate convicted of killing his wife in 1986 is expected to be freed today after county prosecutors agreed that new DNA evidence pointed to another man as the killer . . . [content.usatoday.com...]

Fortunately he presumably didn't get "death row" 25 years ago.

Sorry, I'd rather be executed on death row than experience the horrors of 25 years in prison

$220 for every day he has lost, how very generous.

Quite generous, if you compare it to other countries. Here in Germany he would get 25 €/day. Minus an amount of 6€/day for food and shelter.

Fortunately, DNA (via use of computers, which brings this back to topic) and a bunch of folks banging on keyboards (probably computers and internet connections) sending out reams of pleas (legal papers) got 'er done. Comparing today's technology with 25 years ago is like comparing a TR4 to a Z06. Things have improved---except for the idiots behind the data... that screw loose (human stupidity/laziness/bigotry, etc.) is the reason why the blonde perished. Somebody tossed a scratch 'n' sniff to the bottom of the pool. (25 year old technology)
