Engine is in pieces at Livernois Motorsports. Oil pump gear broke at high rpms. Snout of crank is cracked too. Rebuilding it to handle 1000 bhp (crank horsepower). Since the engine's out, bolting on a set of long tube headers would be a snap. What mama don't know won't hurt her. ;)

Ouch. Better hope for that adsense check this month :).

Right now looks like you've got a flintstone car.

Didn't you post about breaking this motor a few weeks ago? Is this rebuild from that mishap, or a more recent one?

Have you thought about getting a more reliable car, say a Yugo?

High rpms, eh?

Like how high?

Like buried the needle high?

Like buried so fast and deep the needle fell off high?

Like the need flew off and impaled a passing 757 high?

Ya know, lawman, . . [youtube.com ]

It's a door stop right now.

Same one.

Not a swap, a rebuild. A swap would've been more than a rebuild.

Block and heads are in good shape. Steeda removed it and sent it off for me. I'm telling Livernois Motorsports what I want done. Newer, stronger bottom end. Port and polish the heads. They'll ship it back to Steeda who'll put it back in.

6500 - I missed second and shut it down. Heard a funny noise. Made the first turnoff and rolled down my window. The funny noise was coming from under my hood. Oil light was on. Gauge showed no oil pressure. I was running an Innovators West 10% overdrive pulley on the crank. Lots of cars are having same problem I had running the IW pulley. Having the IW replaced with an ATI overdrive, which covers more surface area of the crank snout and is not known to cause breaking of oil pump gears.

Also upping compression from 8.4:1 to 9.3:1.

BTW, both Steeda and Livernois have great customer relations. Scott at Steeda texted pictures of removal and crating of my engine. Told me when it was picked up (week ago Thursday). John at Livernois called me the following Tuesday and told me they recieved my engine. He's called me 4 times since then to keep me up to date on teardown and make sure how I wanted it rebuilt. They're keeping me in the loop. I'm really impressed.

I'm already running aftermarket - Ford Racing TVS. There's not much that's not aftermarket; to wit:

VMP Tuning TVS S/C, Ported Plenum, 2.59 Upper, MAF, Dynotune 662whp 642wtq. L&M T/B, FRPP: Intake Resonator Delete, 4.10 gears. JLT Power Stack Air Filter, IW 10% Overdrive Lower, 60# Injectors, Lethal Xpipe, Magnaflow Magnapack Axle Backs & Resonators, McLeod RXT Clutch, MGW Shifter, N2MB WOT Box, Steeda: Aluminum Drive Shaft, Lower Control Arms, D/S Loop, Hood Struts, Adjustable Panhard Bar, Adjustable Rear UCA. Shelby Heat Exchanger, American Muscle OEM Style 19" Wheels (Black)

I guess I'll get to add "Built Engine; Long Tube Headers" and replace Innovators West pulley with ATI pulley. Will also most likely add a Boost A Pump for time being rather than going with even bigger injectors. :)

Don't you just hate it when that happens!

I'm sure you'll get back a better engine.

I'm sorry, Lawman, I don't have the time or the money to keep up with you these days. My quarter mile is much slower in today's car (i've had to go all practical and ecological). The old track cars would have been worth a punt. The best and last one was the Lamborghini Murcialago. I loved that one.

I can't wait to hear the news of your upgrade. Just don't miss second again!

I knew a guy a long time ago who worked on a Ford assembly line. He purchased a new vehicle, the exact one he was assembling all day long. He ordered it with zero options. He spent the next 6 months liberating all the options and upgrades from the plant and installing them on his new vehicle. Ended up with a fully loaded Ford Taurus.

The guy was a living Johnny Cash song.

Tuners universally set rev limiter to 6500 RPMs on OEM engine. I set shift light at 6300.

I just asked my contact at Livernois how many RPMs the built engine will be able to handle. I was told it will easily handle over 7000. I guess I'll set my shift light a little higher once she's running and dynotuned. :)
