For months I've refused to click, share or read TechCrunch. Why? Simple, it's not TechCrunch anymore, it's "AOL".

IMO -- AOL is a pariah in the online world. They are one of the worst companies I've ever seen, and with Arianna Huffington at the "content helm", they can only be worse than ever.

Again, IMO -- she brings new lows to online media.

Too bad Mike Arrington sold out to the wrong people. At one time, TechCrunch's word was as good as his -- solid and honest. He got his money, and AOL will now finish destroying his site and his reputation. (CrunchFund, his new Venture Capital business is funded primarily by AOL -- so they will taint anything it touches too).

Techcrunch had always been first to the punch in several tech circles because of insider friendships in key places so to fire Michael Arington because he shouldn't run a venture fund on companies he may write about is slightly absurd. He was more a grapevine than a writer.

I read the occasional story because it broke there first, now I have no intention of visiting the blog (it's just a blog) because it's corporate (AOL) and because many of the insider friendships go with Mr Arrington. I just don't see people feeding AOL information to the same degree.

It was a good run for the site but it's cooked, I took my bookmark down.
