Is there one around?

Hi All,

A quick question someone asked here and I couldn't find an answer for. Is there a smoke detector available specific to detect cigarette smoke? Is there anything being sold under this guise?

I'm a smoker myself - so this is not meant to spark of an anti-/pro-smoking debate! Merely a question of interest!

Just snag one from one of the Lavoratories during your next flight. They always announce it's a Federal violation to tamper with them. They dont' mention anything about "outright" snagging them... :)

There is a Japanese company selling a product line that claims to be able to specifically "detect cigarette smoke".

I'll have a chat to my mother-in-law as the moment she walks into my house she asks "Who's been smoking in here" I'll tell you now it's very good :)

Don't have a mother-in-law, but if I had I guess I would pay the transport myself :).

I've heard that smoke detection is only one of the many senses of a mother-in-law....

I like that - although I'm sure lawman will say that one is an extension of the other!

Tape an asthmatic to the ceiling?

(apologies for the poor taste of this 'joke,' but I asked someone who has asthma if she thought it offensive, and she said "Well I have asthma and I laughed til I wheezed" so I assume it can't be too bad)

I once sat out to invent a cig smoke detector, but immediately ceased R&D when I remembered 99.999% of the population are in fact born with a functional nose.

Besides, ain't cloning an in-law just a bad idea all the way around 8^)
