Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude said in the House of Commons last month that "people will be able to use the service of their choice to prove identity when accessing any public services [via the internet]."
Access of citizens to public services information and services may be farmed out to private companies including facebook google and banks..
If you aren't on the web ( and allow private companies to have your confidential data )..you may not be "in" society ..or you may have a long way to travel to find a public office..
And of course being on the web..means owning a computor and having an ISP etc ..equals Cost..
And social networks such as facebook as as the gatekeepers to public services ..?
