I just had a look online at the price of webservers. The exact same Dell webserver that I am running all my web stuff on I can now buy for $100.

Not sure what that says. Other than when I do upgrade I'm not going to get a lot of trade in value on my old equipment.

Never get tempted to spend more on hardware than you have to. Whatever features tempt you into paying more will be dirt cheap in an year or two.

If nobody had bought CD burners when they retailed for $999 no, children, I am not making up this figure, they would not now be a standard feature of your average computer.

The factor of 2 still applies to technology. Every 2 years you can get twice the value for half the price. Businesses wanting to sell more, more, more ensures that won't change any time soon.
