[bbc.co.uk...]
A retired prison guard in the US has eaten his 25,000th Big Mac. It has been 39 years to the day since Don Gorske ate his first nine...

"When I was 19 years old I had eaten my first 1,000 Big Macs and I was kind of like, I thought how long before I hit 10,000?

"Then it was like boy, by the time I hit 25,000 I will be old and retired. Well wouldn't you know, I'm not super old, I am 50-something, but I am retired and stuff, but you don't dream of living so long as to reach a milestone like that."
...
Doctors have said they do not recommend Mr Gorske's diet.

I can barely stomache one. But 25000?

Added- tenuous tech link (per TOS). Techies famously have bad diets. Anyone else living off two burgers a day.

Can he substantiate his claim?
I wanna see receipts for all 25K of them.

I remember that guy from the movie Super Size Me. That's one of my favorite movies of all time. They should play that movie to all kids in schools at least once a year ;-)

Did all of the maladies that befell the Super Size Me guy befall the Big Mac mega-eater guy?

Man eats record 25,000th Big Mac

The previous record holder presumably ate 24,999 of them.

I wonder why he stopped.

McD's, BK, KFC and all the rest have had ZERO of my money, ever.
Likewise Coke and all variations thereof.

Alright, I'll come out and tell everyone that I've eaten 74,395 Hot Wings from Pizza Hut & Domino's combined.

g1, there's a time and place for fast food IMHO. Especially when you have kids and almost no time to eat between activities. Just don't make a habit of it ;-)

One leads to another, leads to another. Best not to start. :)

Now, fish and chips (with real fish and real potatoes, that's a whole other matter).

Anyone have info on his health stats? He doesn't look obese... also, what does he eat in between? If he has healthy snacks in between the big macs, it really isn't that big of a deal...

Curious to know what his HDL and LDL numbers are.

In an article about the same guy in the NZ Herald, it states 'his cholesterol is low'

It also says that 'he avoids extras, such as fries and soft drinks' and probably the biggest factor (IMO) 'walks regularly for exercise'

Are there fake fish and chips? :)

One Big Mac is about the same calories and fat as a normal order of fish and chips, though there's a difference in cholesterol.

He has kept most of the boxes or receipts or has made specific notes in calendars that he’s kept.
Gorske says he probably has an obsessive-compulsive disorder but he doesn’t consider it a problem.

He has obviously got some sort of mental problem, 25,000 over 39 years equals 1.75 per day every day, so most days he ate two of the things. What a boring diet. The first 38 years were the worst, after that it just got worse (with apologies to the late Douglas Adams)

The one good thing about it is that he never had to worry about what to have for dinner every night, and presumably he never ever cooked anything at home so he saved money by not having a cooker, fridge, freezer or microwave.

He obviously doesn't have any friends because that is a seriously flatulence inducing diet.

if he's had 25,000 big macs and has a bag of chips too, and you get 50 chips in a bag, i've worked out that he's had over a million bazillion chips

Yes there certainly are. You can find them in most supermarkets
- "fish" made from mashed up pieces of assorted fish probably including the innards, fins, eyeballs etc which is then reconstituted and pressed into roughly the same shape as a fish fillet and thickly battered with something that Colonel Sanders wouldn't wash his boots with.
-"chips" formed from mashed potatoes

He did have a freezer, and presumably a cooker, as he bought his "rations" twice weekly. From the BBC article:
Every week he buys six on Monday and eight on Thursday and keeps them in his fridge or freezer until he is ready to eat them, he says.

How very sad!

Surely, this is not a good advert for all the 'youngsters' reading it thinking they will go for a new record.

All the youngsters I know don't have the patience to go for any record - except maybe a texting record.

Case rested... Fish is fish. Beef is beef. A close walk to what might be the only nearby restaurant for lunch and two burgers and drink is not such a bad deal... and cheap, too. Might be boring, but one will not starve or be nutritionally challenged.

That is even worse - re-heated burgers soggy (microwave) or burnt to a cinder (oven)- a breeding ground for bacteria. He must have extra strong stomach acid to cope with that.
