I have had a Google android phone for some time now, but there some really annoying things about it, and one of them is that google voice keeps automatically loading itself into memory.

I haven't used google search, and I never use voice search.

How do you get rid of this, or are we stuck with google's view that we have to have it! OK, I know, we're probably stuck with it.

Hi there Engine,

I too have an android powered phone, and if you're referring to the gizmo that sits on the 'desktop' that allows you to enter text and search via google - have the result pop up in your browser, then I am not too sure about turning it off, I can't get mine to function! I wanted to try it the other day, but as much as I hit the microphone picture, it wouldn't do what I asked of it!

I have to ask though, how do you know as it is in memory, as I can't find a 'task manager' type application that allows me to see what is hogging the system memory?

Google seems to a alienating a lot of people at the moment; chrome with it's 'you can't remove the other bookmarks button', seriously, if I could zap that button, I would drop FF4 which incidentally is aesthetically poor in a flash! Oop's seem to have gone off topic there a little...

Let us know if you find a way to turn it off - I shall just hide the icon somewhere out of harms way :)

Cheers,
MRb

Matthew1980, thanks. Hiding it doesn't seem to stop it from loading. ;)

If you really want it to work, go to android market and download, or update it. It's google's own search tool, supposedly to enable voice search to save typing.

For what's running on your phone, look in settings and it'll show Market progs, all progs, external memory progs, etc. I use a task killer to unload stuff that I don't want running. see your stickmail

You can see voice search, but it has load by default, and you cannot turn it off. How stupid!
