Someone trying to tell me something ?

one problem after another

Maybe someone is trying to tell me something...

Last month decided to semi-retire - had a great holiday then .....

Monday: Hit by Panda
Tuesday: Lost money
Wednesday: Lost more money - pulling hair out
Thursday: More lost and no hair left to pull out
Friday: Discovered someone had hacked one of our sites .htaccess and tried to divert all traffic to a #*$! site. Then discovered he had set up a subdomain using my dedicated IP
Late Friday Night: ISP Changed the Ip addresses to new ones
Very Early Saturday: Woke up at 05:00 checked the "new" dedicated ip addresses , they were the same as the old ones
Saturday: ISP changed dedicated ip's again
Sunday: slept
Monday: we have two servers in a datacentre - right next to each other behind a switch - they failed to talk to each other - got that fixed. Then another ISP we use had a data centre problem and lost 2 sites for most of the day. Then I lost my broadband connection - big argument with telecoms people who said I needed a new updated router and I had to pay ! Nope !
Late Monday: Still losing connection between the two servers ...

Anyone else have weeks like this ? - or maybe its just me and someone ( something ) is actually trying to tell me that maybe I should be doing something else !

The upside is maybe you were just hacked and not Pandalized as you can at least fix the hacking!

The hackers code change didnt work as he wasn't a very good hacker !

That last post of mine was way off topic. I was just sympathizing with the guy because he was sounding like he was hurting. I do that sometimes.

Better delete it though. And don't tell me why either. I don't think I want to know.

No offence taken as was at a "what ! this cant be happening all at once" stage

I'm past that stage now - into the "hahaha - who cares anyway" stage.

To be closely followed by the next stage, summerised nicely by an ex-boss who used to say "life's too short" when a deal went pear-shaped

You have the wrong boss !
When I left university I had a great boss - really laid back - taught me loads in a really short time.
This was in a very competitive marketplace. He was English, ex-Harvard ( long time ago he must be over 60 now ), high net worth.

He was way ahead of almost everyone on investments, i.e what people are piling into now he was there 25 years ago ( proper "real" investments not internet )

Example - the problem with gold and metal investments is that they don't pay a dividend - always look at the fundementals - what do people want and what is subject to demand.

Example 2: there is only a certain amount of land and the population is always growing !

Example 3: If you look at company accounts - follow the cash - everything comes out in the cash balances

I remember a few years back here in Foo saying gold would be worth investing in and would rise constantly..Brett "speculated" that I and Freedom might be preparing the ground for an aff coup ;-) we were n't ..we were just talking around the watercooler and drifting in foo [webmasterworld.com]..

Never had bosses really, always been self employed or in structured stuff like military ( short terms ) ..or manual work to pay studies, years and years ago ..except for just before leaving the UK ..worked for about a year or may have been 18 months for a big regional council type Quango ..money was good "go money"..reporting and responsible only to the head guy..Doing PR and advertising and inventing and organising exhibitions, all sorts industrial, cultural ..anything to get companies to come and open and employ people ( the days of over 30% adult male unemployment in may parts of the UK the Maggie years ) ..seeing the result of the Maggie years made me leave the UK for good near 25 years ago

My favorite saying of the Boss / became a good mate..
" You're the expert ..spend what ever you need..just don't have them tell me you bought yourself a Ferrari on expenses, less you find a way to get us each one without getting us into trouble ;-)"..

Its amazing the money that sloshes around in Quango expenses accounts..could have bought a brace of Ferrari's a week every week for decades and not made a substantial dent in the cash pile.
