Here's the gizmo quiz item:

Changed it at the last minute when I realised the original "gizmo" I had in mind, might never have existed over the pond ;-) [img826.imageshack.us...] ( apologies for the "jumping ads" around it ..my place is "busy" ) hence it may be a little easier than my first choice. ;-))

The first to correctly identify the gizmo wins a fun-filled no-expenses-paid day of hosting the gizmo quiz again next Saturday.

Good luck.
The [Original] gizmo quiz rules

1. It must be about some gizmo.

2. The game must be confirmed by it's host 24 hours in advance.

3. The game must be posted when it is Saturday somewhere on Earth.

4. The current winner must have priority on hosting the next game.

5. If the winner declines to host the next game, the current host should pick which volunteer (within participants of the week) will host the next game.

6. Of course, no one can be forced to host the gizmo quiz.

7. The first player to get 10 points wins the Platinum Geek Award (whatever that is... ) All scores will reset to zero, and we begin a new contest.

That's straight out of Star Trek.

It's obvious. It's an anti-matter reactor used to power the warp drive.

Sheesh.. and I thought this would be a hard one knowing Leo.

Did you leave the file name intact?

What does bidule have to do with this?

I'm on this man. This may go down in history as the quickest gizmo quiz ever...

Bidule didn't pan out, or I didn't go deep enough.

I didn't think you'd let a filename give it away anyhow.

That's cast iron, unless I miss my guess.

Can you confirm the metal?

I'm back ..sorry guys ..I actually had a traveling circus show up totally unannounced who didn't know that I quit painting rearing horses and sequined girls and lions on the side or trucks ..they had cleaned off all their old decor ready for me ! now their convoy looks crap ..going to try an do something for them urgently in the next few weeks ..

Right back to "gizmo"..BTW "bidule" is French for thing ..or "gizmo" ..

Nope.. not a drawer slide ..see where you are coming from though ..but nope :)

Nor.. a warp drive reactor ..;-))

Cast Iron ..nope ..

Metal ? ..partly ..yes :)

I may be absent again for an hour or so ..play quietly kiddies...don't disturb incrediBILL and Lawman ..its the weekend and they may be hungover ..and .don't start any fires ;-)) while I'm gone

If no one starts getting close within a couple of hours I may have to give a clue ..;-)

I think a clue would be appropriate right now.

Does the top part rotate?

I guess I'll have to restrain myself. I thought more people liked this gizmo quiz.

But nobody's playing.

I think a clue would be appropriate right now.
Its early in the day for some , and its only been a few hours , needs more to wake up ;-)

And part of what you call the "top" does indeed turn .

Nope ..( I couldn't remember if "parts of things" were allowed ? so I made sure to use a whole thing ..shot from an unusual angle ) ..and had to make sure you could find them anywhere ..any country.

I didn't have to go far with my camera to take the photo...but the "bidule" is not just an "inside/indoors" item.

You're confirming that the image can't be found on the net? That exact image I mean?

This is your shot?

Nothing like jumping into waters of uncertain depth and temperature... you really are quite stingy in the clue department... however, here goes...

Door chimes?

Did the trick. And no I don't have the same.

The first to correctly identify the gizmo wins a fun-filled no-expenses-paid day of hosting the gizmo quiz again next Saturday.

I like to pick up my prize however I think there is a problem now. I'm leaving traveling on Friday and I'll be on a plane on Saturday. I don't know the exact rules of this game as this was the first time I attended.

Is it normal to leave the quiz for someone else or do we skip a week or can it be held on another day? Just tell me.

Winner hosts next week. If cannot host, gets someone else to host. If we skip a week, next thing you know it's 3 years until someone gets around to starting it again.

Laid down for a quick nap and it's over with.

Nicely done Bddmed.

The camera clue. Very sly Leo. I'll pay more attention next time.

Wyweb, I can't possibly hold this contest next week. Do you want to do it, as being the most active in this thread? Obviously it'll cost you a beer next time we meet to take my price :).

If I read the rules correctly
If the winner declines to host the next game, the current host should pick which volunteer (within participants of the week) will host the next game.

Bddmed has'nt "declined " but just can't be in two places at once..and IIRTRC ..I'm current host ? ..If Bddmed can't host ..I nominate wyweb ..on the grounds of "keenness" ( which apparently the American spell checker thinks is a real word ? didn't underline it on me ) ..If thats Ok. Unless Bddmed thinks his flight is going to get socked in due to low flying polders or storks on the runway ;-)

edit ..I see that was already dealt with while I was typing ..why is it that everyone can type faster than me ?

Um... yeah I can do it I guess.

I may have been the most active but I was the least effective.

Yeah I'll put something together. Sure.
