Don't mind at all... cigarettes, cigars, pipe...mostly cigarettes, easier to carry. You guys all know that most of the humans on the planet who have achieved 100 plus years have routinely indulged in tobacco, alcohol, sex and sugar in regular and consistent quantities, right? Also do a lot of rice and frioles. Some fish, too. Ride a bicycle 30+ miles every day, though that has been only in the last 8 years. Prior to that was active as a hunter/fisherman. Outlived two wives and, sadly, my children. Survived Viet Nam in Uncle Sam's Boys Club. Managed to escape a 40+ year career in professional music, recording studios, and "dangerous lifestyles" (though I still perform every Tuesday at a rotating circle of six "assisted living" venues with four other like musicians (for free). Lost all my hair working as an author back in the 90s were I got fat. In 2000 I went from 321 lbs to 144 lbs in one year by getting off my a$$ and ... have no intention of getting heavy again. Or quit smoking.
Do get chest x-rays on an annual basis... clear as a bell, just like my dad who smoked for 70 years. His dad smoked for 70 years. Diabetes got my father... it will not get me. Something else will, sooner or later... hoping for later!
Tobacco is bad for most folks...and I mean MOST folks. There are some (few) where it is not a health problem. Some kind of genetic thing. I do NOT recommend smoking. I counsel kids to never start. Nearly took my brother's head off when he started to mimic me (I was 11+, he was near 10) and he quit at age 11. He's still here with me... and smoke free. Do as I say, not as I do. But don't tell me what to do...
Drawing caustic materials into your lungs on a deliberate basis is stupid (well...that includes me). I suppose the day when I am less active will be the day I rethink tobacco, but that day is not yet here and, despite my growing years, I remain healthy, active, and though the fellow I see in the mirror looks like my dad, I remain 22 in the brain.
Probably more than you wanted to know.
