I'm building a new wordpress site on my desktop and accessed it with "localhost". Then I catch the section in the admin panel that shows incoming links...393 backlinks to 'localhost' out there on the web :).

Even more curious, looks like localhost.com (yer darn right I checked to see if it was registered, I'm not letting 400 aged backlinks go to waste :) ) was registered in 1995!

Interesting. Is there a list out there of those types of reserved domain names?

I don't think it's a reserved domain. Example dot com is reserved. the localhost domain, someone actually owns.
