"I don't know. People think I'm going to quit this year or next year. I haven't even thought of it," he said. "I honest to goodness have not thought of it.

Even Bobby Bowden needed encouragement to leave. :)

Far out, 45 years coaching the same team and successfully by all accounts (I'm more an NFL fan than college). To be honest if he's healthy enough and Penn State still believe in him, then why quit?

Some people may say there's more to life than work and I'd be one of them, but obviously to Joe his work is his life. Good on him.

He's gonna die on the sidelines one day, then everyone is going to say "why didnt someone make him quit" then all those who allowed him to keep coaching are going to look like morons... no win situation here... that includes the team itself... ZING!

>>then all those who allowed him to keep coaching are going to look like morons

why? if he does doing what he loves, what could be better? ... living an extra 10 years, senile in an old folks home?

I think Joe Paterno has been great for Penn State, but I also think it's time for him to pass the baton.

pass the baton

Why? Sure this season's 7-5 record may not be the flashest, but 11-2 the previous two seasons? Hard to argue with that.
