Been visiting Wikipedia for years, most of the time the things I search are spot on... but tonight, first time I've seen, Jimmy's face and a rather large typeface urged me to read a message...
Which was a beg for donations.
You'd think the 5th most visited site on the web would have figured out how to stay on the web...
But to be fair, Wikipedia is free of ads, does not require subscription, and is open. I'd hate to see their electric bill, much less anything else!
Could be this is just like those quarterly begs on PBS and I just haven't seen it before (though I have seen it on PBS for many years...)
Only reason I noticed it was the size of the font... I view pages in ZOOM since my eyes are going and this overlaid the top fold and below! Read the beg (which I suppose this poor crafting was designed to do) and find nothing out of order. It was well presented and logical and polite.
Just never saw anything like this on Wikipedia in all the years I've utilized their site.
