In Chinese culture, Oct. 10 (10/10) is a very lucky/auspicious day. Each year, there are lots of weddings and booking a hotel for Oct. 10 can be very difficult in East Asia unless you book way in advance.

This year, of course, we have 10/10/10. (Where will you be and what will you be doing at 10:10 on that day?)

10 (base ten) = 1010 (base two)
(base ten): 10 x 10 = 100
(base two): 10 x 10 = 100

101010 in binary is 42, which of course is the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe and Everything. (Does that mean we'll finally know the question?)

Furthermore, 42 is divisible by 7 (a lucky number), as well as by 6 (often considered an unlucky number). So 42 is both lucky and unlucky. But which has more effect- a unlucky number of lucky numbers, or a lucky number of unlucky numbers?

Two new countries will be formed here in the Caribbean on 10/10/10

On this date, the Netherlands Antilles will cease to exist. In its place, the islands of Curacao and St. Maarten will follow Aruba to become separate countries that will be part of the Kingdom of The Netherlands. The remaining three islands will become municipalities of The Netherlands.

I'm looking forward to 11/11/11. It is my wedding anniversary and is a much more sensible date than 10/10/10 which has too many different numbers.

Then of course we have the final one in the series 12/12/12.

The best thing about these dates is that we all understand them unlike
normal dates like 5/10/10 which Americans think is 10th May but is actually 5th October in the rest of the civilised world.

5/10/10 would actually be Oct. 10, 2005, in some "civilized" countries. Who may become less civil from being excluded from civilized countries...

Be that as it may, when you speak the date, do you tell someone it's 10 October (or the 10th of October), or do you say it's October 10th?

Is there an eclipse due this year anywhere? A quick google reveals that: October 5, 2010 is the closest one...

I personally look forward to the 11/11/11 as this will be the last palindromic date in anyones lifetime, Unless some clever soul out there can correct me..

(21/11/12 & 31/11/13 are the only two I can see.. Lol 21/11/12 is almost a decent cue to get a rush album on the go!)

Ceramic mother of pearl tabla (doumbek) with Nile river fish skin head, stretched it myself. Doesn't like the climate of Oregon very well, the humidity keeps softening the skin and I have to carry a hair dryer at all times.

Cost: $50 + S & H, cheapest you can buy but most awesome, deep earthy sound.

It will like San Diego much better. :-)
