Hahahahhahaha-- A student wrote a nasty email to Ask Jeeves after becoming upset with the "quality of search results!" Apparently it was so bad that he got suspended!

If more people thought to do this, then mabye we'd see the end of pay-for-inclusion/pay-for-placement situations that yield irrelevant results that waste both advertisers and users time!

Naturally i cant condone threats of violence sent by anyone, but i did recently send a very abusive message (just expletives! ;)) to a multinational about the state of their forum.

You wouldnt believe how quickly it was cleaned up! Within minutes!

Not a word of a thank you though......

Ahh you are right-- by "if everyone would think to do this" I meant be critical and send critical emails to search engines if people are disatisified :).

Pretty dumb using expletives and threats - anyhow i dont know what would possess me to write an email complaining to a large corp like them - (as if they they will listen) the easier way would be to use an alternative engine that provides good results. Let me think erm erm

I don't believe this story, since it's so vague. There are some 80,000 boys aged between 10 and 19 in Essex (http://www.essexcc.gov.uk/essexcounts/indepth/popcensus.htm#age), spread between several dozen schools in the various parts of the county.

The story does not specify a school, or even the town or district where the school can be found.

I think we consign this story to the realm of the urban myth (but it's a good one!).
