To most people, "media failure" probably means another newspaper going bankrupt. But to techies, it means their hard drive just crashed.

UNIX users have no problem "finger"ing people they don't know. The rest of the population would probably be arrested or beat up.

Besides an insane asylum and the Windows OS, you will probably never hear the phrase, "To stop/shutdown, first click the Start button..."

Others?

"Dynamite charge" has a different meaning to a lawyer than it does to a miner. :)

Practicing doctors and lawyers is not the same as for the rest of us.

Debriefing has a different meaning to lawyers and the adult entertainment industry. However, they both end with the same result :)

Many people feel the need to make a toilet reference when I use the word download. It's rather tiresome.

Had a problem on a small private WP site I run where some old -- old -- high school buddies and I shoot the breeze.

Three years later and I'm still hearing about my "Fortunately, I had an overnight backup" turn of phrase.
