a small farmer we know well

That's the best choice for those that have it. I personally don't care about organic as being certified, but about where and how the crop is being raised, and animals as well.
If I have a chance to take care of my pigs, cows, etc, I wouldn't be worried about if pork is better or worse then beef or chicken.

About nutritional side, it does not only depend on if it's organic or not, but it also depends on soil - aka - green kale will not have the same nutrients from two different farms (or states).

When you have nuclear physicists talking about what is wrong with modern farming, pointing to "projects" and ignoring the real world, you're on thin ice.

There are more examples showing that knowing something well in one field helps you excel in another:
Linus Pauling: [en.wikipedia.org...]
A guy many call a hero. He would probably be even "bigger" if he did not step onto toes of pharmaceutical industry. It's all about expensive drugs, nobody cares about cheap stuff (that works for many).

oh, the ignorance is amazing considering the topic...

over 90% of all food grown or raised in the world today for commercial purposes is GMO. Is has a substancially lower yield and is more prone to disease which requires more spraying than organics.

trust me, I've been researching this for 20 years...

just go look for yourself and start with Mosanto/duPont (roundup 1 & 2) and the international patent office.

What delivers more? Almost two years old, but interesting article:

[independent.co.uk...]

My understanding is that GMO and chemical approach exists only for the profit of those that developed it. The rest surrounding it is pure BS (better yield, better profit for farmers, better this, better that).
