So I was taking my usual lunch walk and finishing up by the office. As I was passing the gas station, I saw a truck pull off the freeway then turn into the gas station. A few seconds later I heard a loud crunching noise and metal tearing. I looked over and saw that the driver had lodged his truck underneath the roof above the gas pumps. He did it while turning and ended up with the right side of the truck in the air, lodged tightly in there. I watched for a few seconds as the guy got out and looked all around. Then I continued on my way.

After about 50 yards I slapped myself as I remembered the camera on my cell phone. I rushed back to get a picture, but he had already dislodged the truck. The story would have been much better with the picture!

I so much wanted to go up to the driver and say, "Dude! Can you do that again so I can get a picture of it?"

Must have been a big, or at least tall, truck.
It wasn't a rental truck, was it? It's amazing what you see people do with rental trucks. I saw a guy happily pumping gasoline into a truck marked "diesel" a couple of months ago. Whew.

No, this was a regular commercial truck, a little smaller than a full semi (a semi-semi?), from a major food products company.

Many years ago I had come off a ferry from Dieppe. There were dozens of watermelons scattered around the customer area.

A driver had tried to take a lorry loaded with Spanish fruit through the customs shed (cars and vans only) instead of through the open air inspection area and ripped the roof off the trailer.
