Be careful on the roads tomorrow. Lots of people, that usually don't leave home until dark, will be out and about :)

“I have no idea what he’ll do with it,” said Jessica Panzica, 30, waiting in line at the Apple store in downtown San Francisco for her husband, who could not pick up his iPad because he had a ham-radio class. “I’m sure he’ll use it a lot, whatever it is. He told me I’m not allowed to open it.”

Wait a minute...ham radio class?!?

Now that's a nerd.

Had a chuckle at that. I have said the exact same words with regards to new laptop deliveries.

Sorry, that was the extent of my interest in Apple and its new toy.

I even read an article in the times I think saying it could bring back the "man bag". Do these journos all get free Apples or something - really quite sad.

I see quite a few people carrying small laptop bags around with them. Has absolutely nothing to do with Apple.

Hey! I'm a ham too and I'm studying to upgrade to General and hopefully then to Extra.

As for the iPad, I've got no interest in it... yet. Maybe in a few years.

Yeah, making fun of nerds on WW is highly problematic. Let's face it, if you're on WW, you're a nerd.

This thread is pretty funny because I'm thinking of taking up ham radio myself. This guy sent me some information late last year, he thought I'd be interested in that kind of thing.

And to think back on my high school and college years - when I played football, bench pressed 350 pounds, threw the shot put and javelin.

What even is the iPad? Is it just Apple's version of a netbook? If so, they're a little late to the party. Besides, I need my computer to do real work, so I don't need any of their cutesy music and video organizers, which appears to be Apple's idea of what a computer is for.

Actually, the attitude of Apple as a company, Steve Jobs as an individual, and the more vocal of Apple users, is itself enough to keep me from ever buying an Apple product if I can help it, whether an iPad, iPod, or iAnythingElse.

If by nerds you mean Apple fanboys and clueless people, then yes. The iPad is an enlarged iTouch with the same mobile OS. Call me when the tablet has a real OS that I can run programs on and multitask.

According to reported sales (300,000 units on first day) the nerds forked over at least $150,000,000.00 (assuming the 499.99 version). That's nerd power!

BTW, I want one. I just haven't figured out why...

We're not nerds. We're geeks! There is a distinction ;)
