Did anyone else watch the new Everwood last night?

When the kid who was in a coma (but recovered) says "oh I know all about you"
to Ephram Brown (Gregory Smith), Ephram says back "don't waste your Google time on me"?
Or was I imagining things? That would be a very hip retort!

Episode was called "The Price of Fame", can't seem to find a transcript yet.

Several weeks back on Buffy, Willow was at the computer and Buffy asked her if she could find info about someone. She said, "I'll Google her." Xander looked on with eyes wide and Willow glanced up and noticed his horrified look. She grinned, "No, in a good way."

Or something to that effect.

The Buffy episode was the one with that girl Cassie. I think it's playing again next Tuesday.

found another reference to the word google. this is even quite a funny article about kevin and his web-surfing debut in a tv-show.

So he did just what you might expecta cyberian version of Rip Van Winkle to do: he Googled himself.

and again: used as a verb. but it's started with an uppercase g, so maybe this is a true mix-up.

talk about free product placements!

It is almost the ultimate goal of branding to make your brand name stand for the generic class - e.g. asking for a coke when you really mean a cola.

This stuff is worth its weight in gold. Still Pepsi keeps on coming back after coke stole the generic brand name, so all is not lost.

I still talk about "doing a web search" rather than "Googling it", but im one of the increasingly few i think.

And when google can move beyond "pop culture" - which by common definitional understanding transient and fickle - to "mainstream culture" - that is when they can really claim "owning" the generic class...

Yahoo was heading to do the same for web destinations until a few years back. And for some reason "iid teoma it", "iid alltheweb it" and "Iid wisenut it" does not seem to have quite the same ring to it. Thats the advantage of a simple unique "new word" brand name.
