So,
I've just decided to start managing my finances properly. Up until now, I've done nothing, other than keep on top of bills and payments, by just making sure there is enough in my bank account when it's needed. There's been no planning ahead, no estimations of what I will have at the end of the month, nothing.
But, I've decided that I need to change this, so I'm recording everything I do. Now, this in itself is not too groundbreaking, but I've been getting more and more excited about doing this - I'm starting it all off on the 1st April, and I feel like a little boy on Christmas Eve - I can't wait! I want to see my budget table start filling up with values, I want to see all the calculations and estimations get populated. I want to have data that I can make all kinds of graphs with. I want to have done this for a while, so I can start doing month-on-month and year-on-year analyses. I'm so excited!
On another note, last night, I met with the rest of the leadership of my Church to work on this document we're trying to produce detailing what our aims and plans are. The first draft was written by someone else, but he's of the same mindset as I am, so it's got a lovely little 'V0.1' on the front of it. That, too, makes me happy. I can't wait to see it get up to something like 'V0.5', before we can finish it off, and we can see an even lovelier 'V1.0' on the front.
Now, I have come to realise that it's things like this that have made me come into the world of software engineering - I love seeing systems working, and I love being able to see the progression of things. Some may see this as my work spilling over into the rest of my life, but I'm pretty sure it's the other way around - the things that get me excited (however sad!), have directed me to this kind of work.
And I love it!
So yeah - that's it really. Does anyone else have any traits or preferences that makes them love what they do?
