What's the worst thing you have done to get back at competitors?

Have you ever done anything, shall we say, decidedly unethical to get back at a competitor - or does the halo fit really well?

Oh, "those days" were before I got into internet stuff, so it's hardly relevant. ;) I have a spotless criminal record, and I think everything bad has dropped off my driving record and credit report by now.

Lot of shy halo-wearing "who me?!" types on here...

Hehehe. The halo also fits well around here, but one thing I did enjoy doing was giving out our competitors name to a couple people who called here expecting that they could get a sophisticated e-commerce site that would rank highly in all the search engines for about $100 total cost. Gotta love those "prospects"!

Of course, I only did that after learning the competition had been doing same to us. ("I called XYZ Company and they suggested I call you instead....") :)

My competitor (if you could call them that, charters the worst boats one could imagine. It seemed like a perfect fit for such a nice customer!

Other than that, I have never done my competitors dirt. That stuff always comes back to bight you in the a**!

Guess the worst thing (lately) is to accept offered appointments with competitors clients, tell and show them how well my current clients are doing then refuse to work for them when they fail to comply with my humble conditions.
I can imagine the hairpulling of my competitors trying to figure out how my clients are so successful getting found and getting sales.

In response to an email in which the full content read:

"Add a link to my site www.xxxx.com.xx"

(absolutely true... those are the exact words. No name, please, please consider etc)

So I replied suggesting them should try for reciprocal links with "competitor name"

I got a perverse enjoyment knowing that I had managed to successfully connect two <jackanapes>.
