The 'Internet' Nominated For Nobel Peace Prize [news.bbc.co.uk]
The internet is among a record 237 individuals and organisations nominated for this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

The internet's nomination has been championed by the Italian version of Wired magazine for helping advance "dialogue, debate and consensus".

It is unclear who would accept the prize if the internet were to win.

Internet for Peace, set up to help support the nomination of the internet, says the prize would be "a Nobel for each and every one of us".

So we could ALL go to receive the prize?

The way they are giving them out to those undeserving I'm not sure I'd want one! :)

Tim Berners-Lee would be a suitable person to accept the award, IMHO.

Al Gore, of course.

I...I don't even know where to begin with this. I guess then I will nominate a pillow, for it is soft and comfortable to sleep on, and being attacked with it isn't too troubling. The pillow truly symbolizes peace. Or should I nominate oxygen and how it keeps me alive? So many choices...

After Obama won the award last year for the assumption that he would do peaceful things, this award is officially a joke anyways.

Al Gore, of course.

He's already got one that many people feel wasn't deserved. Why give him another one he doesn't deserve?

But in the end, it doesn't matter who accepts it- Google will just buy/absorb that person/entity. :)

surely the internet is just a medium. its the people on the other side of the screen who actually spread the stories and fight for stuff that bring about peace. the internet brings a lot of misery too, with stalkers and kid rings and hate campaigns and god knows what else.

you may as well vote for guns. they bring about more peace than the internet does. and they bring about lots of misery too.

I e-mailed a deposed Nigerian prince today promising that he will be able to accept the Prize on behalf of all of us. He just needs to send me $450 to process some paperwork...
