How do we refer to Windows 7?

Hey,

Following Mack's ponderings on the spoken name of MySQL here - [webmasterworld.com ], I was wondering how do we refer to Windows 7?

Up until now, it has been known for me to utter 'XP is running ok today', or 'Vista has broken, again'.

But now, I'm just a little uncertain.

Do I go with 'My 7 machine is struggling', or 'My Windows 7 machine is struggling'? Will people know what I mean if I just say 7, or am I forced to use all 4 syllables to make it clear I'm referring to Windows?

Obviously, this is not the most important thing in the world, I'm just curious!

Win7 or Windows 7 until enough people are using it for just the number to be understood like 95 and 98 were.

Right now I still say Windows 7. But I think through time it will become win 7 then simply 7.

The OS calls itself version 6.1 internally ... so why use "7" instead of "6.1" to start with ?

No, the "does not suck" feature is scheduled for the next version of Windows - never the one that is actually out.

It may have "pseudo does not suck" which means it sucks, but everyone hated the previous version so much it looks good by comparison (Win 7 vs Vista, 2000 vs ME).
