#13 Kansas State hosts #3 ranked Kansas at home tonight. The spread's been all over the place, finally settling at KU -4 1/2. I got 100 down and gladly gave up the points.

Intense rivalry, even more so this year as both teams are nationally ranked.

This is just about as good as it gets for Kansas college ball.

No sir. Round ball. A different beast entirely.

I'll give you rugby. Some serious boys with serious intent. Sans padding. I wouldn't play. I'd break something for sure. My fat ass probably.

KU's up 2 - 0 in early minutes. States defense looks strong, but they always play strong at home... something to do with those maniac fans I believe.

8 - 6 early going. KU's up.

State's defense is pumped. They don't actually realize they're in a game with one of the finest collegiate programs to ever come down the pike.

When they finally wake up, it'll be a little bit too late.

Just realised ..you mean they are playing with a round ball ( soccer ) or an oval one ?

Presumably you have some money ( or drinks ..or a relative playing ) on whichever ? it is ?

I Hope your side wins :)

K-State has a hard time finishing. Those maniac fans can only carry them so far and then they'll realize they've got a game to play. They start strong but always run out of steam and this has been a historical reality of their team for years.

I admire rugby players Leo. And of course I'm aware of the difference in what Americans call "football" and what the rest of the world calls it. I admire any young man who will hit another head on with little thought to life or limb. It is in fact the consumate test of manhood no? When I was younger I embraced that sort of recklessness on a regular basis.

In the past I would have enjoyed mixing it up with them. In the past...

I'm an old man now, and can only sit back in my rocking chair and cheer on the favorite sons. I do that religiously... and with passion... and with a quid or two bet on the outcome.

27 - 23 KU and the tide has definitely turned. My 4.5 points is safe.

All of the above...well, not a relative playing. The drinks and money.. yes.

My alma mater is KU. I live 30 minutes from the University and go there often.

We have an intense dislike for K-State. They're farmers. We're academics. You might see how that could cause conflict.

29 - 27 KU with 3 minutes left in the half.

This may not be the lock that I thought it was going to be.

Basketball Leo.

This may not have reached the UK yet.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Ah ..Basketball ( facepalm ) ..we have this in France ( where I am ) also ..and in Ireland ( where I'm from ) ..and even in the UK ( where I was ..amongst other places ) ..a game of skill ..and speed ..I enjoy(ed) :)

Grey hairs slow us all ..but in our minds ..we are no older ..

And in the waking hours ..Oh the games we can still win and the races we can still run ..:) ..given the breath and the days and the hours ..

BTW ..I'm what you might call academic ..but from farming roots..but I know what you mean :)..

40 - 32 early minutes of the second half. KU is up.

U is running away as I predicted and as I bet.

I guess I can feed Momma tonight. Such a relief...

Leo I have followed many of your posts. Your strict adherence to english language has prompted me to print off many of your corrections.

This is basketball. It's off the charts with respect to language. We use terms like, "Taking it to the hole"... "coming in the paint"..."knocking back threes" on a regular basis... and they all have their meaning.

What are rugby terms? Hit him and kill him? Knock him down and get the ball from him and run with it?

I'm just curious.

It's 43 - 38 KU with 13 minutes left in the second. I'm feeling pretty good.

Ok. I understand that there is a sport where one team ranks 13th and the other 3d. And then you got so excited you dropped your sandwich and spilled spread all over your place. I hope it wasn't jelly, because it's a nightmare to get this out of the carpet. And then you had to pay the carpet cleaner which cost 100 bucks and some points form your bonus card.
