Well, no i didnt get a chance to buy a new Cobra Mustang this year....

So i have to live with my 96 Isuzu Rodeo, V6, 4WD, Auto.

New huge problem here...

Metal flakes all in the oil, oil filter...!

Along with low oil pressure.

Mechanic said could be camshaft bearings wearing away the bores... and the oil is just going all over my engine in areas it shouldnt be...

She runs hot after a good drive, but temperature gague stays within normal range.

Anyone got insight into what im looking at here? Repairs, cost?

The mechanic is guessing. Step one, replace the mechanic.

The low oil pressure is likely a bigger concern than the metal flakes, unless you are hearing noise. You need to find out what is causing the pressure issue. It could be what is pumping the oil that is causing the flakes and the lack of pressure.

I had a Isuzu. The gauges were not the best. Make sure you really have an oil pressure issue. (Check the oil level. Of course, make certain it's not leaking oil. If it's leaking, fix the leak...)

Metal in the oil can be a lot of things. Test the oil. Here's how:

Well yeah.. hes guessing, thats why he did send a sample off to a similar lab for analysis... he didnt say for sure. I forgot to mention that.

they did also hook a vaccum up to the manifold and the pressure was low, but until the sample comes back they cant know for sure...

i just was wondering if anyone had gone through this before...
Yeah, my isuzu gas guage sucks...

it think its 21 gallon tank .

the first half of the gague uses 7 gallons, the last half of the guage uses the other 14 gallons...

so when i first got the vehicle (used) i thought i was literally getting like 8 miles per gallon... freaked me out.

OK, you're in pretty good hands.
Still, it could be a lot of things.
Anywhere from $600 to a new car.
