It's 20:45 and the temperature here in my part of the Netherlands is -8C / 17.6F and there's about 4 inches of snow on the ground.

I hear that the UK is on for it's coldest night so far with -20C expected in some parts. How is it where you are?

Temperature in Middle Tennessee United States is currently 28-F. Tomorrow is supposed to be about 10-F for a low.

I'm not certain but I think frigid weather simply confirms that the whole "global warming" thing is NOT a hoax. ;)

Here is the U.S. temp map [wunderground.com]

I might also add that our windchill is -11°F and we've had 13" of snow fall in the last 7 days.

I hate winter.

When I woke up today it was -31C (-24F)... brrrr... the overnight low was -33C (-27F) or -37C (-34F) with the windchill. This isn't unusual for here.

Good thing I work from home LOL

Here in the South of England we are currently at -7 degrees celsius. No extra snow today but still unable to get to my office because I don't want to risk sliding out of my drive and then driving approx 500 metres to the main road on what is effectively sheet ice. It would have been a risk I'd have probably taken with my old car (now a block of crushed metal thanks to the scrappage scheme), but not with the new one.

2nd day working from home, the small shops within walking distance in the village are out of milk again today so we have been forced to buy goats milk; an acquired taste I think.

I took half an hour and six kettles of boiling water to de-ice our bird bath so the wild birds can have a drink, I heard on the radio that they are too stupid to eat the snow. We feed them with some bread, nuts dried fruit etc then had to keep the cats in for ages as they were lying in ambush.

It was -11 Celsius at 6.20 am when I was driving to the office in Warsaw, Poland. Guess it is a bit warmer now. Lots of snow in the city.

Nice and warm because the heating has been on all night (Chiltern Hills, UK). I am dreading my next fuel bill.

From the description I wondered if Old_Honky lived in my road, but probably not as my village has only one shop even though it does have a goat farm. Snow is so disruptive here because it is seldom heavy enough to justify using snow chains. To drive anywhere today I need them for about the first mile of the journey and would then be on a reasonably clear road.

10am here at Loch Lomond in Scotland and I don't know how cold it is but looking out of the window my car is covered in a thick layer of frost. I was out yesterday after noon and it was -3C in the sunshine. It was forecast to go well below this during the night but I was under the duvet!

Having said that there has not been a cloud in the sky for three days and the snow covered hills are very beautiful to look at.

Bad idea. If the birds get their wings wet and their wings freeze, they will die. We know to never do that here in the northern climates.

Got in my car last night at 10pm-ish, and apparently it was -11C here in happy Yorkshire (UK). Saw -6C on the way into the office this morning. Now I guess it's about -4ish.

Strangely, I'm loving it!

I'm not that far from you Mack and I think it is getting colder. I went for a long walk earlier today and it was fine because I was exercising and well wrapped up. I went out later this afternoon and it was Baltic ... -5C at 15.00 and set to fall much lower overnight. Brrrrrr!

ahh, ice on the inside of your windshield, that sucks.

The way to prevent that is close the vents for your defrost and heater. When the car is not running and you still have the defroster turned on, cold moist air enters the vehicle and you will find frost inside the car. Strangly, this does not happen to every car I have ever owned, just some of them including my current car.
