Noise Indexing Windows XP Search Text

Windows XP uses a special indexing mechanism to index files containing text (found in Computer Management > Services). I would like to know if any of you have had some experience with it. I'm trying to know
(1) How to configure the Indexing Service Query Form
(2) How to modify the "Noise" file so that I can solve the following problems.
(a) The number "1999" can be searched alone on the search engine and "Microsoft" also. However, "1999 microsoft" returns results WITHOUT 1999. This is not the case in ME. (b) "AMD Microsoft" returned MORE results than Microsoft Alone... It should be either equal or less. In fact

The boolean default in the Indexing service is "OR". If you search for AMD Microsoft it will look for articles that contain the word AMD or Microsoft. I suggest you exclude some directories, so the service does not index junk or temporary content:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourLoginName\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\*

C:\Documents and Settings\YourLoginName\Application Data\*

C:\WINNT

The benefit is quicker results. The disadvantage is, if you search for file names, it will search against the incomplete index file instead of fully scanning the hard disk. You can work around this by Tuning the Performance to "Used Often" (aka "Instant") [microsoft.com] for the service. Since this setting bogs down your system during the initial build, you may want to let this run as an overnight job.
