DirecTV no longer offering DSL

Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere, but I received a letter in the mail informing me of DirecTV DSL service termination [directvdsl.com] as of January 16th. They cite "dramatic change in the capital markets and the significant shift in the telecom operating environment" as their reasons for dropping broadband services. Verizon, for one, seems to be picking up orphaned customers.

Fortunately I've already found alternate hosting for my website. :)

Those of you plagued by virus probing and errant spiders from DirecTV customers will be breathing a sigh of relief. I don't know when the IPs will be reassigned, but I'm going to have to clean out my firewall blocking list when it happens.

The closure has been brought up here before - but not the security problems (at least not recently). When I was a DSL subscriber of DirectTV I sent them detailed probe/IP address lists - they wouldn't even respond.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced - either as Telocity or Direct TV.
