ScottM had a special present Jan 1 in the form of a new baby. We think maybe he should take it easy this weekend so I am going to host the quiz this week for him.

This one got solved! Look down here [webmasterworld.com] for the new one!
Gizmo [golistenlive.net]
So what is it and who makes it?

Would the gizmo be used in a medical environment?

<added>And I second MacGuru's vote for korkus as official replacement host</added>

>>is it a gas spectograph

You are getting warm so watch out for the firemen [ericsfunnypictures.com]!

Don't really know how it works so the wires are just wires to me too.

No Milk [animal-funny-pictures.com]!

Well, I'm pretty sure I know what the 'protruding things are' and what the 'wires' are, and the white 'rails' at the bottom are helpful. But I still can't figure out the function...

Is it some sort of a methane gas pump or detector?

Does it serve some sort of temperature control purpose?

Added: Darn it ... I have to leave to go teach sailing. Good one Korkus. I am completely stumped!

I vote for Korkus as replacement host any time! :)

Does it have anything to do with RF power or high voltage?

lgn

5:50 pm on Jan 4, 2003 (gmt 0)

Does it involve determinng the chemical makeup
of a unknown coumpound.

And if so is it injected into the instrument in
a gas form.

lgn you are close but, not necissarily gas [ericsfunnypictures.com] in any state.

No temperature and no high voltage.

Is it NASA stuff or MIT?

Im running out of instrumentation. New I should
have not slept through biochem.

My dog works at nasa [animal-funny-pictures.com] and said not that she knew. I don't think MIT either.

lgn

Yes the highlight of biochem was the guilitine for
the frogs.

How about a magnetometer, or the use of magnistism
in some way.

OK, I am late for class ... but I'm hooked. Does it separate or otherwise analize hemoglobin?

How about low voltage electron microscopy

Does this gizmo actually do something actively or does it measure something¿¿

Not nessicarily microscopy but you are dancing [ericsfunnypictures.com] all around it.

lgn

6:21 pm on Jan 4, 2003 (gmt 0)

Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence
Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy
Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer

Am I still dancing. Im going to wear a hole in
the floor pretty soon.

Is it some kind of chromatograph?

lgn

Does the instrunment use a frequency of the electromagnetic spectrum to measure something.

And if so, could we get a hint, or else we will
be here all night.

lgn, maybe you should just look at the description [golistenlive.net] and tell me if it has to do with that.

It does measure and analyze but I don't know if you would call it a chromatograph.
