Winter is here!

Weather report from up north...

OK... so it started snowing in October. That doesn't count, because then it went back up around freezing temps, and the roads were slick and nasty for a couple of months... and then it didn't snow at all for quite a while.

Now, finally, it snows steadily for much of last week, and this morning it was -27 degrees Fahrenheit (~-33 Celsius) during the drive to work. It's warmed up to -24 since then... but for a while there, I was afraid we'd have a "non winter" like we did last year!

Funny stuff though, when I went to check the weather on Yahoo, they had today's forecast (low -18 to high -13) posted right next to the current temp, reading -24. Tomorrow it's only forecasted to go down to -18 as well. I wonder if we'll break the -30 barrier instead... lol.

We were in just about the same boat Mivox: early cold fall, followed by a little snow. We got a big repreive this last week and hit 50 on fri, sat, and sunday. I played a few holes of golf on sunday.

Glad I went up north for he New Year festivities, It is supposed to be freezing rain in Montréal.

Well, we're not THAT cold. But we are hovering around the 20s (on the other side of 0). Freezing rain today (nasty drive in) but clear and cold tomorrow. No fresh snow since Christmas. :(

We finally got some snow (maybe 4-6 inches) over the past 4 days or so but yesterday is drizzled all day and today it feels like it is around 40. At least the mountains are getting snow and I can pull out the skis tomorrow.

Just checked up the artificial snow centre's in the uk, didn't have much snow there, extremly expensive though.

No no, Brett... you've got it backwards. ;) We had a late, warm fall.

Normally it's snowing by the end of September, first week in October at the latest, and then it stays cold enough to stick until April. The fact that it waited until mid-October to really snow at all, and then warmed up again until the beginning of December is practically an indian summer up here.

Normally, we would have gotten our first good sub-zero cold snap sometime in November.

Wow! The last time I was around your fair city was two Februarys in a row some <mumbles> years ago. The army had us dressed for minus 30 and daytime temps got up to plus 25. Whew! We poured water out when we took off our bunny boots.

The four-hour work day was great, but after work cocktails starting at 2pm can get to you after awhile.

Yep... can never tell. The first winter I was up here, it went from -30 one day, to +45 the next two days, then down to -35 a couple days after that. Only place I know of where a 60+ degree temperature fluctuation in the space of less than a week is a fairly common occurrence. hehehe.

Normally, it's more like -15 up to +20 in a day's time though... my first winter here was a bit more extreme than normal, or so I'm told.
