So i've been using front page for as long as i can remember (dont ask me why).

I have all these static pages and product descriptions with EXTREMELY messy code, thanks to front page.

Does anyone have a good way to turnt his messy front page code into clean HTML code that will work best with x-cart?

I currently have all the messy HTML in .txt files ...

You might be able to replace some of the redundant and unnecessary code with Notepad, or better yet, some regex editor. If you have experience writing programs, you could quickly whip up your own text replace/format app.

Other than that, lots of sleepless nights.

no experience, and no patience to open them all with notepad and manually sorting out the bad with the good.

any editor recommendations that can do this for me? (free?:)

There's an online frontpage cleaner HERE [webmaster-toolkit.com]. However, I cannot comment on its efficacy since I have never used Frontpage.

If you only have a few pages to clean up it might be ok, but if it's hundreds then an online tool may not be up to the job.

Also, HTML TIDY might be worth looking at.

I don't want to be the one to break it to you but, it isn't necessarily FrontPage that is the issue. In most cases, it is the way one uses the program incorrectly.

If you have the time, I believe I outlined everything you can do to make FrontPage the PowerHouse that it is. You have complete control over every byte of code and how it is generated by the WYSIWYG Editor.

Yes, the above topic is from 2002 but it still applies. If you are using FP 2003 which most are, all of the above applies. Also, many have upgraded to EWD (Expression Web Design) which is the replacement for FrontPage. It provides a more robust and mandatory interface for .NET websites.
