This would be a very interesting turn in the history of Saab. They began life as the automobile division of an aeroplane manufacturer. Then they were bought by the Wallenberg family and merged with Scania Vabis (now Scania), a manufacturer of trucks. Later still, they were sold to General Motors, until a few months ago the world's largest manufacturer of cars.
It seems almost absurd that tiny Koenigsegg who makes immensely expensive super cars, could buy Saab. But, if Porsche can buy the Volkswagen group, then why not?
Perhaps they will re-introduce the two-stroke engine and the freewheel?
A certain black Saab 900 Turbo is still on my list of cars I liked a *lot*. That car was nothing like what Saab turned into under GM management. I for one will be looking at upcoming models if Saab gets away from GM and can become something else than boring.
Koenigsegg itself ... well it's even more mad and over the top than most other so-called "supercars". Nice to look at on top gear! Drive it once: why not, just for kicks, but I want a version with the top gear rear spoiler in that case. Own it: no thanks (we do have an Audi "S", it's not that I have something against fast cars, I just like something drivable and still a bit sane).
