Craigslist Being 'Unfairly Targeted', Says Buckmaster [news.bbc.co.uk]
The boss of classified adverts website Craigslist says the firm is being unfairly targeted by US prosecutors over its adult listings. Craigslist boss Jim Buckmaster said he was being "publicly condemned".

In a blog post, Mr Buckmaster said: "South Carolina Attorney General, Henry McMaster, today announced that our recent improvements, which go far beyond measures he himself personally endorsed with his own signature six months ago, not only aren't good enough, but actually require a criminal investigation.

I wish I could say something in Craigslist's defense, but I can't think of anything. I just checked out the new adult section, and while it's a little cleaner, I really see no difference.

Craigslist boss Jim Buckmaster said he was being "publicly condemned".

I think he needs to worry more about being incarcerated.

Craigslist doesn't create criminals, it merely provides a platform for people to do business. Unfortunately that concept gets abused by some, which occasionally leads to tragic results.

If we follow the reasoning of the politicians, we should close down every facility and recreational area (e.g. parks) where illicit behavior occurs.

As far as I'm concerned, this is just another attempt by the Washington pinheads to put forth an image of compassion and working in the interests of the American people. Seriously, who could be against cracking down on unlawful activity? The problem is, they're not cracking down on the activity. They're cracking down on the park owner.

Ever play that game "Whack-A-Mole..." ?

If the category is removed they'll just move onto to another less appropriate category or other service.

Man, either I'm thick, or this doesn't make sense.

Not only is the park example good, but you would think that the Gov would like to have an easy place to find brain dead criminal activity. (I mean, common, advertising on illegal activity on Craigslist)

If they put undercover agents to call those listing, they would be able to catch the source and not the places they abuse.

'Unfairly Targeted',

That sounds like ....

"But Mommy, all the kids are doing it!"

What a clever argument, NOT!
