It's National Bike to Work Day today, although some locales list it as tomorrow. How many of you biked to work today? *raises hand* Okay, how many of you biked to work at least once this week? *raises hand*

For those of you who didn't raise your hand, Al Gore will be stopping by to give you a lecture on Global Warming. (And yes, he WILL be flying a gas guzzling airplane to get to your place to deliver the lecture.)

So ride to work and avoid the Gore Bore!

I sold my PPV (petroleum powered vehicle) and switched to HPV (human powered vehicle, ie. "bicycle") six years ago. I lost 161 pounds. The only gas I generate (besides the ever present CO2) comes from last night's beans.

I am not in the US - but only last Saturday I bough a new bike and this week I began cycling to work. The only problem is the lack of cycle ways cross country. Or rather not the lack of ways but the lack of signs indicating the correct way. I want to avoid the normal roads so I use the small country ways that the farmers use to get to their fields and vineyards. The ways are like one big maze. Although I had printed out a map on google maps I more than once ended up on dead ends and had to get back to the last intersection. Or ended up in the wrong village, because the way I choose suddenly made a 90° turn in the wrong direction.

I guess I will contact the district council and demand they put up some signs for bikers.

Since I have a home office the whole thing is moot ;~)and I usually bike to coffee break just to get out of the house, does that count? ;~)

I'd do it if the roads to my work weren't uphill also trying to ride a bike in traffic in Athens (Greece) is suicide. I wouldn't last 5 minutes on the road before being turned into someones hood ornament.

I'd do it if I wasn't putting my life at such a high degree of risk by doing so. No bike lanes + crazy drives = stay out of the way.
